Luciana dos Santos – soprannominata familiarmente Pretta (“nera”) per il colore dei suoi capelli – è nata nel 1980 a Vitória da Conquista (Bahia) in Brasile.

Si è diplomata in Pittura presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, completando poi gli studi con la Laurea in Pittura presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Ha inoltre frequentato corsi presso la Scuola di Belle Arti dell’Università Federale di Bahia, in Brasile.

Il suo lavoro esplora temi legati alla memoria, all’identità e alla relazione tra passato e presente, attraverso un uso intenso del colore e materiali di recupero. La sua pratica integra elementi naturali e organici – come pigmenti, oli essenziali e cotone grezzo – sottolineando un impegno per la sostenibilità e la consapevolezza ambientale.
