1959
Georgina Spengler was born in Athens, Greece, in 1959. At the age of eight she moved with her family to the United States and later to the Netherlands, where she came into contact with the works of Rembrandt, Ruisdael, and Vermeer, sparking her interest in painting. In Paris she attended the École des Beaux-Arts for one year. She then returned to the United States, studying at the College of Fine Arts at Boston University (Boston, MA) and at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., where she completed her academic training. In 1982 she settled permanently in Rome, where she still lives and works. Since then, she has exhibited regularly, taking part in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad (Vienna, Leipzig, Munich, Wiesbaden, Washington D.C., Houston, Bellwald).
She has participated in two artist residencies: Artist at Work, organized by Artbellwald.ch and the Canton of Valais (Bellwald, Switzerland, 2021), and Atelier, MacroAsilo at MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome (2019).
In 2023 she received the Contemporary Art Creation Award from the International Federation of Female Artists.

2012 – Together with a group of artists, she founded Casa con Vista: fifteen private homes in Trastevere hosted site-specific works, creating an exhibition itinerary open to the public.
2009-2012 – She collaborated with painter Edith Urban and four poets on the project The Silent Space Between and Around Words, presented in 2009 at Temple University Gallery in Rome and in 2012 in Leipzig, on the occasion of the second edition of Colonia 210.
2008 – She created a series of works inspired by John Keats’ last journey to Rome (1820). The works were exhibited at the Keats-Shelley Memorial House Museum, Rome.
