Veronica Della Porta was born in Modena in 1964. She lives and works in Rome.
She is a set and costume designer and she has worked with several artists (among whom Mario Schifano and Isabella Ducrot) before she started her personal projects.
Della Porta’s artistic investigation delves into that which lies “beyond”. She seeks out architecture beyond its utility; she ponders its details. White spaces and lights that emerge beyond windows, doors, and creaks. She works by subtraction: her shots eliminate all that is superfluous and expose silent and vivacious architectural lines to the baffled viewer.
Della Porta’s careful choice of paper and materials for her prints exalts their potency and, as if by some strange alchemy, transmutes them into paintings.
Her first solo exhibit at the s.t. Art Gallery in Rome was curated by Ludovico Pratesi in 2013, followed by her second solo show at Maja Arte Contemporanea in 2017. Since then, she has displayed her photographs in collective exhibitions, and fairs (Bologna 2015, Set Up Fair; London 2015, Start Art Fair, Saatchi Gallery; Milan 2019, MIA Photo Fair).
